Cannondale's efficient, smooth Synapse Carbon Hi-MOD 3 Ultegra features comfortable positioning so you're ready for any mileage challenge. The lively feel of Cannondale's lightweight, vibration-damping Hi-MOD carbon frame and fork will keep you pedaling strong. All those miles tick off quick thanks to a host of top-notch components, including a crisp-shifting FSA/Shimano Ultegra 22-speed drivetrain that features an extra-wide gear range so you can conquer any ascent, and responsive Ultegra brakes for confidence and control on the descents. Mavic Ksyrium Equipe S wheels and Yksion tires stand up to sprinting efforts, a Fizik saddle is comfy for all day epics, and a Cannondale bar and stem round out the package.

Cannondale's Synapse carbon frame pulls out all the stops to provide incredibly light weight and amazing comfort. Its oversize, shaped carbon tubes (left) are wrapped and molded to sleek joints for exceptionally efficient pedal power. The Synapse's hourglass seatstays (center) smooth the road and enhance power transfer with exceptional lateral stiffness. And, the flat carbon chainstays (right) flex for unmatched road-bike comfort.
Cannondale's SAVE PLUS fork and rear stays create a micro suspension system that allows the wheels to track the ground, improving comfort, control, traction and handling. Designed to help European pros carry speed over cobbled roads, this system allows the bike to roll faster, accelerate better and corner harder without affecting pedaling efficiency so your ride is more enjoyable!

BB30BB30 is an oversize bottom bracket standard that boosts stiffness and decreases weight. BB30 bottom bracket bearings are pressed directly into compatible frames, meaning there are no heavy external cups to thread in. And, BB30 cranksets feature 30mm-diameter spindles (standard spindles are smaller) for greater pedaling efficiency and increased power transfer.

Comments:

I use my synapse for both recreational rides and for races. The frame can do it all. I find the ride to be smooth even on rough roads. The frame is very stiff and I can feel my power being put to good use. My only complaint about this bike is the stock wheels. They are heavy and the tires that come with the wheel system don't help make them any lighter. At 700x28c the tires are big. On a more positive not the wheels are bombproof so far. My suggestion is put the money you save buying the 2014 model into a nice set of wheels and the bike will be perfect.
